Romantic, Hopeless Fantasy

My doubts arise this morning's eve

Of this romantic, hopeless fantasy

'Tis solely love keeping this candle alight

A passionate flame burning faint yet bright

Two hearts in ache thirsting for love

A hungered desire so true but unheard of

Simple satisfaction but complex when missed

On soft, blushing skin lays a promised kiss

Far then near the perfume wanders

A fragrance so sweet yet poisonous yonder

How the skin is embraced with a gentle touch

But so confused is this feeling, this emotion-filled love

A secret whisper hidden behind eyes

Letting loose the dove, an uncaged surprise

Flutter and free, so beautiful are its wings

White like frost, soft as petals in spring

But also is this dove flying in storm

Its stomach churning, eyes burning, and feathers worn

Yet it rests not till death defeat its task

So hopeless am I, but fight till I last

Soon morning sheds its ray of farewell

Welcoming moon and stars with many stories to tell

Casting my glance to the waves so I may listen and see

My romantic, hopeless fantasy
