Drive Me Home

I’d like a ride home,
if you don’t mind,
in your car;
I’m still learning to drive.

Could we turn the radio on?
Let me choose the station.
Yes, I like this one;
it reminds me of you.

You don’t have to drive fast;
there’s no rush
for me
to get home.

There’s no need to take
any shortcuts;
I actually prefer
the long way around.

Would you mind if I
slipped my hand into yours?
Would you mind if I
leaned my head on your shoulder?

Can you see the pale moon
through the windshield?
Yes, it’s so beautiful;
I can see your face there.

Let’s talk about ourselves,
the hates we have towards life
and the likes,
but there is only one love.

I enjoying sitting by your side
as you push the accelerator
because you’re nervous
yet hungry for more.

Just as you stop
when we reach my house,
you wave a sad goodbye
but I’ll leave you with a kiss

because I want you to know
that I’m thankful
for everything you’ve given to me-
for all your love-

and that next time
when you drive me home
we won’t stop
until we’re lost in the night.
